Applicants are invited, with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in the upstream oil and gas industry and sound knowledge of accounting fundamentals. This is a great opportunity to join a dynamic and young oil exploration Company that is preparing for their first drill and potentially on the threshold of expansion.

The Company is part of a Group with offshore, oil and gas exploration interests in UK, Norway, Namibia, Ireland, Indonesia and Brazil. The Group has grown significantly in recent years, through leveraging its expertise and leading edge technology in order to identify, de-risk and ultimately monetise material hydrocarbons.
The Company, focused on the UKCS, uses latest technologies to identify exploration and appraisal opportunities and mature them through the drilling phase. They are planning their first operated drilling activities in 2017. Based in central London, the company culture is young, fun and fresh thinking. Innovation, knowledge transfer, support and mentoring is keenly nurtured.

Responsibilities: Reporting to Company Managing Director this role encompasses many functions including:
• Become competent in the Company’s UKCS interests, practices and processes.
• Manage all day to day financial affairs including:
 Complete Accounts Payable function
 Banking, cash reporting and management
 Control, validation and payment of Expenses
 Submitting quarterly VAT returns
 Joint Venture accounting, including monitoring Licence costs, liaising with JV partners, preparation of invoices
 Cost control for drilling project and administrative expenditure
 Budgetary control and variance analysis
 Monthly accounts preparation, closing of periodic group reporting
 Preparation of ad hoc management reports & information
 Board reporting and support
 Budgeting & forecasting (both corporate and project level)
 Audit (internal & external)
 Statutory accounts
• Working closely with the Group parent company, you will take responsibility for the core accounting processes while pressing ahead with implementing a new reporting system.
• Be proactive in understanding all aspects of the business and play a key role within the Management Team.
• Be actively involved in corporate finance activities, preparation/support for Company Board meetings and also provide financial support to the Company’s business development activities.
• The Group is currently rolling out “SunSystems” (i.e. cloud based financial accounting solution) in an implementation tailored to the oil industry and reporting requirements of the Group. While the initial focus will be on the implementation, this is an excellent opportunity to learn the system from the start so that key reports are produced efficiently and the system used widely and willingly.
• Whilst your primary focus will be on the UK operating company, you will be exposed and expected to contribute towards some of the other activities of the Group.
• Provide financial reports to all stakeholders across the Company and Group in a professional and timely manner.

This is an exciting and challenging role, working for a young and dynamic oil exploration Company. You will be quickly brought up to speed with the key drivers and focus areas as the Company moves ahead with its drilling plans and future growth. You will be actively involved across the Company’s Management Team and key players across the Group. It is a great opportunity for someone to join and help build something great for the future.

• A minimum of 5 years’ experience in the upstream oil and gas industry essential.
